We offer one of the area’s only PRIVATE lake retreats. Come and enjoy a getaway in our peaceful lake community! The Town of Lake Waccamaw was incorporated in 1911, however, was inhabited by Native Americans for thousands of years. Southeastern North Carolina was covered by a shallow ocean more than two million years ago and you might find interesting fossils including sharks teeth, shells and coral as you swim in the shallow water. Be sure to visit Lake Waccamaw State Park to view the 2.75 million year old whale skull that was discovered embedded in a limestone outcropping several years ago. Measuring nearly 9,000 acres, the lake is unique in many ways ecologically with several endemic species of fish and mollusks (found nowhere else in the world).The lake is about 10 feet at the deepest with shallow waters along its shores, making it perfect for families with children. Tourist attractions include a local museum in a 1904 train depot, Lake Waccamaw State Park, our beautiful library, several restaurants, grocery and retail stores. The guest house is totally private from our home and features a vintage lake theme queen bedroom with flat screen television (Direct TV and DVD player), en suite bathroom with shower. All bed and bath linens are furnished. The common area/living room has a flat screen television (Direct TV and DVD player), a variety of movies, books and magazines, toys and board games for all ages. The fully equipped kitchen has a nice size refrigerator with a separate freezer, electric coffee pot or French press, microwave, and electric stove. A variety of cookware and utensils are available for your use as well as kitchen staple items. A washer and dryer is available in the garage below the apartment. We provide a few basic breakfast items for your first morning. There is a grocery store nearby for most anything else you would need. The living room couch/futon converts to a very comfortable full size bed. There is a large desk for our business clients and free WiFi. Other furnishings include a table with four chairs, rocking chair and leather recliner. Guests have access to an outdoor kitchen with a gas stove, and a double sink. You may use the charcoal or gas grill, enjoy the fire pit (wood provided), several bicycles, and two kayaks. We also have corn hole boards and other yard games you may use. Sorry, we are not able to accommodate your pets, but can recommend a delightful getaway for them. Although our log cabin isn’t on the lake front, it is just steps (the length of a football field!) from your apartment. You may use the pier for sunning, swimming, launching a kayak, fishing, relaxing or picnicking under the shaded canopy. Lake Waccamaw is conveniently located one hour from many beaches in Wilmington, N.C. and one hour from Myrtle Beach, S.C. We personally recommend Sunset Beach, which is about an hour.l

Ox’s Acres and Country Nook: peace, rest, relax!

Escape the chaos of the city and immerse yourself in all that country living has to offer. Our cozy little spot is tucked away between Lake Waccamaw and Myrtle Beaches. We have all options available to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable, options including lending a hand in taking care of our adorable animals, especially our Service Dog, Stella, who we’ve affectionately named our apartment after, we have a horse, mule, and a friendly flock of chickens. Fresh eggs daily. No cats, no exception.

Great for wading, boating, or swimming in the summer and bird watching and soaking up the peaceful views in the winter. Watch the sun rise over the lake from the King bed in the master bedroom! Perfect for artists, those looking to reflect or re-connect, or short getaways. Up to 2 dogs allowed, woof! ($50 fee)

Adorable 1 bedroom efficiency

Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Perfect spot if you enjoy beautiful sunsets over grassy fields or sipping morning coffee overlooking huge yard and pecan trees. Our 1 bedroom efficiency is in Loris, SC. 30 minutes from popular Myrtle Beach. Room has a kitchenette with microwave, mini fridge and a 2 burner hot plate. Newly remodeled Bathroom has stand up shower. Bed is a double/full and for this reason we only allow 2 guests. Full wrap around porch overlooking yard.

Sweet Retreat

A great place for relaxation, enjoy some alone time or family time. Some new updates have recently been done to the Living room, Dining/Sun Porch area the lake view from inside the house is even better than before! There are two different shelters on the pier where you can relax and enjoy the sunsets. You are driving distance from the state park where you can enjoy hiking. There are several spots around the lake for good fishing. Grocery store, variety store and gas station are near by.

Spend time with loved ones in this family-friendly lake front home. Sip coffee on the back deck while watching the sun rise or enjoy the company of friends gathered around the outdoor fire place as the sun goes down. This 4BR, 3B home comfortably sleeps 10 and has everything you need (linens included & a fully stocked kitchen). Relax on the pier that has a covered space and a sun deck. Let the Webber Gas or Charcoal Grill help with the cooking. Your vacation on the lake awaits you!

Bungalow at the Lake

Bring your family to this charming bungalow, within walking distance of beautiful Lake Waccamaw. Bring your own boat or jet ski to put in at the public boat access. The State park is only 4 miles away, and you’re staying in a perfect location to spend the day at the coast in NC (Carolina Beach, Wrightsville Beach, Southport, Kure Beach) or in SC at Myrtle Beach and all it has to offer. We have two kayaks you can rent. Golf cart and bike rentals are available nearby.

Lakefront Suite, the Foxbird

This lakefront suite , only 30 miles to NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, provides beautiful views of the lake and nature. This location is peaceful, quiet and private. The lake is available for boating, fishing, kayaking and sunsets. The area has quiet streets with low traffic, so very nice for walks and biking. The property has pickleball net/paddles, a tennis backboard, basketball, bikes and star gazing from the terrace.
