Hootananny is a great spot for live world music. You’ll often find top reggae acts playing at this Brixton venue. I’ve caught some brilliant up-and-coming bands, too, like reggae roots act Shanty, or old-school DJs, while playing pool and having a beer. The beer garden is always buzzing, and the venue is usually super-cheap, if not free, to get in.

A great pub with huge outdoor area, huge indoor area, and live music and food. Opens late. Very popular in Summer. Try to arrive before the queues get long.

“The Effra Social was previously home to the local Conservative club from the late 1800's until its closure in November 2012. The venue is now open to the general public for the first time in over 100 years.”

“The Ritzy cinema opened in 1911 and was one of England’s earliest purpose built cinemas, seating over 750 seats in the single auditorium. This beautiful Victorian cinema is a 20 minute walk from the flat.”

“A historic music venue that has shown the biggest acts on the planet. The great thing is it's not too big and has a slanted floor, so you're always part of the action.”

“Perhaps one of London's loveliest leafy expanses, Brockwell Park has become a mecca for fun-loving kiddies. Often termed "Brixton's Beach", the park is remarkable for its large lido, now one of the few remaining outdoor swimming pools in London. It is an ideal place to take a dip in the summer and catch some rays.”
