It is really worth taking a small detour and going towards the industrial village of Crespi D’Adda, 20 minutes by car from Bergamo. Built starting in 1878, it is protected by UNESCO as the best preserved example of a workers' village in the world. In 1878 Cristoforo Benigno Crespi bought 85 hectares of land from the municipalities of Capriate San Gervasio and Canonica d'Adda to build his textile factory, but he did not limit himself to this, he decided to build a real city around the factory that could offer workers, employees and managers all the services they needed. The naturalistic context of the village should not be overlooked: at the confluence of the Adda and Brembo rivers, it is a protected area, ideal for long walks.

La rivoluzione industriale italiana è passata anche da questi esperimenti. Un villaggio creato attorno ad un'industria alla fine dell'800 per facilitare gli abitanti e favorire la produttività della fabbrica. Sogno socialista e utopico di benigno Crespi, fu il primo villaggio industriale d'Europa. Sorse anche una nuova centrale idroelettrica, recentemente ristrutturata, che vale la pena di visitare. C'è anche un aspetto più oscuro della vita di Crespi d'Adda... si dice infatti che il cimitero sia un luogo misterioso, culla del satanismo. Ci sono amici e cugini di amici che sostengono le cose più incredibili, e Dario Argento ha voluto questa location nel suo film Profondo Rosso! Fesserie o no, il luogo ormai sta entrando nel mito, e chi visita Crespi non può non passeggiare per i vialetti del cimitero.

Crespi d'Adda rappresenta un esempio unico di villaggio operaio del fine 800, sito dell'Unesco, perfettamente conservato e tuttora abitato, da non perdere!! Crespi d'Adda represents a unique example of a workers' village of the end of the 1800s, a UNESCO site, perfectly preserved and still inhabited, not to be missed !!
