The region between Huedin and Cluj, known by Hungarians as Kalotaszeg, is one of the most peculiar regions in Transylvania. Inhabited by Hungarians, it can raise interest from geographical, historical and especially ethnographical point of view. This is a special place where Hungarian culture remained intact. The area includes 42 villages. Folk dances and traditions are still alive, and residents proudly wear their beautiful costumes. Embroidery and wood carving of the area are also renowned. The zone’s other features are the painted coffered protestant church ceilings, the historical monuments and literary traditions.
