The Ridgeway National Trail is a beautifully remote walking route. It is 87 miles (139 Km) long, from the World Heritage Site of Avebury. It is Britain’s oldest road and still follows the same route over the high ground used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers.
Britain's Oldest Road, The oldest still-used road in Europe! Barely a ten minute off-road footpath walk from our front door!
The Ridgeway is a 5,000 year old track extending from Wiltshire to the River Thames. You can easily walk sections of this, e.g from near Avebury with views of Silbury Hill.
