A wonderful French pasty shop with treats so beautiful, you (almost) don't want to eat them.

You'll want to immediately follow La Pâtisserie Chouquette on Instagram, just to get a delicious preview of the almost-too-pretty-to-eat treats by the talented Simone Faure. St. Louis is so lucky to have this European-style bakery. Highlights include perfect macarons and 'The Darkness,' a flaky dark chocolate croissant. Dear God.

This bakery is located in an area with a large number of good restaurants, so it's a great place for dessert (though they do sell quiche). The restaurants is nicely decorated and the staff friendly. I bought a canele and a bourbon pecan bun- both were very good. I expect to try them again n the future, maybe a macaron or a chocolate croissant!. Prices are high, but so is the quality. They do have some activities there relating to afternoon teas, "wizarding," and a "macaron of the month club." Nice place.
