One of Melbourne's biggest and best parks and directly across the road from our unit. Edinburgh Gardens is bounded by Brunswick Street and St Georges Road to the west, the curve of Alfred Crescent to the north and east, and Freeman Street to the south. It was created from a grant of land in March 1862 by Queen Victoria and laid out by Clement Hodgkinson, who designed many of Melbourne's parks and gardens.[1] At approximately 24 hectares (59 acres) in size,[2] the park is huge by inner urban standards.

The place to find hipsters having a picnic and beer and wine on a sunny Saturday or Sunday. Also tennis court, lawn bowls and local footy ground which was home to the now defunct Fitzroy Football Club.
I have visited this park a few times recently. It's a perfect park for all ages - two lovely playgrounds for little ones ; two skateboard arenas, one small one for beginning children; plenty of grass and trees for picnics; tennis and basketball courts; and plenty of paths for prams and people with canes and walkers.
