Order a "doner teller" with cheese and make it spicy - you won't regret it! We love their pizza, especially on a Wednesday - only 5 Euro each! Our favorites are Pizza Hawaii (ham and pineapple) and Pizza Jack (doner meat with sweet BBQ sauce). Relax with a MezzoMix or a beer in their outdoor eating area.

Globus has EVERYTHING. Think of this place like a Super Target in the States - groceries, clothes, appliances, school supplies, and beer and wine. Globus also has a cafeteria that serves very budget-friendly items, that are also delicious! We love to go on a Saturday morning for brunch or during the week for an early dinner and can feed two adults and a child for less than 10 Euro. There are often community events going on in the giant parking lot - so much to see and do and EAT!

We love to go on a Saturday morning for brunch or during the week for an early dinner and can feed two adults and a child for less than 10 Euro. There are often community events going on in the giant parking lot - so much to see and do and EAT!
If you don't have access to military healthcare, this is where I would recommend! We have been very satisfied with the care we have received here, for everything from sinus infections to a ruptured Achilles tendon! This clinic is in partnership with the specialists across the street, as well as the radiologists and the pharmacy. They take many American insurance companies and direct bill, so you don't have to worry about anything but healing.

All the staff speaks English and they take many American health insurances, as well as participate in direct billing. The office is decorated like a whimsical castle, even displaying a large suit of armor near the door and a dragon hangs from the ceiling to tease the children. These are the pediatricians that we take our children to - in my daughter's case, since birth!

This was a great place for a trail run! The path travels alongside the lake and is wide, but probably not stroller-friendly unless you are very strong - lots of uneven ground. I would use some kind of mosquito repellent...the mosquitoes were huge and would light on me when I stopped running. I started to use them as motivation to keep my pace quick!!

Walk the carefully curated garden paths and admire the begonias while coming face to face with a triceratops and her babies. The fun is only beginning as you approach the end of the path - here, you'll encounter several playgrounds, each suitable for different age groups (older children can enjoy a huge wooden pirate ship, while toddlers have swings just their size!) You'll also find a concession stand and bathrooms in this area. We love the Dinopark and Gartenshau!

Shows movies in English and you can buy your tickets ahead of time on your smartphone with PayPal. This comes in handy, since the shows can sell out quickly and your ticket is for a specific seat! Great concessions, free parking.

This community pool was voted MOST POPULAR (ahead of the aquatic center on Ramstein) by American voters in "Stars and Stripes"! Indoor and outdoor pools, slides, pool and playground areas for small children, lawn area for sunning, picnicking, volleyball. Flat fee for a few hours or all day, kids under 3 are free! Parking can be tricky, but worth it on a very hot day!

Steinwenden and Obermohr are our local train stations, but this one has better parking. You can walk out the door of the apartment and ride the train to Paris in about 3 hours! (We've done it, twice!) Steinwenden to Paris Est, with just one transfer required in Kaiserslautern, typically. The possibilities are endless! QUICK TIP $$$: Buy your ticket the day before you plan to leave, as the prices can almost double on the day of travel! We found out the hard way...

This is a great place to pick up the Skulpturenweg of Steinwenden, a roughly 6 kilometer hike through Steinwenden, Weltersbach, and Obermohr, to view 12 huge stone sculptures. The hike is meant to be for all ages and fitness levels and the signage is adequate and easy to follow. Enjoy the fresh air and some exercise as you take in the work of some international and regional artists.
