Historically Gilleleje is an old fishing village and it was here that many Jews were transported to Sweden during World War II. Gilleleje Church was a waiting place for Jews until they could be transported. In 1943, 75 Jews were caught by the Gestapo on the church ceiling after a snitch had informed the Germans. Everywhere there are monuments of historical events. Every year there are various festivals in Gilleleje - "Hill" Festival, Harbour Festival, Jazz at the port and The Herring Day. Larger towns such as Hillerød and Helsingør both with historical castles and shopping . If you would like a nice day trip it is possible to take the ferry from Helsingør to Helsingborg in Sweden.

The house is perfect for a romantic get-away or as a writing den if you need peace and quiet a few days for contemplation.

Her ånder fred og ro og kun 800 m. til stranden, hvor I kan nyde de smukkeste solnedgange. Hytten er beliggende i Smidstrup mellem Gilleleje og Rågeleje. Gilleleje by har et livligt handelsstrøg, gode resturanter og et skønt havnemiljø. Huset har 6 sovepladser et soveværelse, en hems samt et anneks.
