As an added bonus, free riverside fishing is available from within the grounds of the cottage and there is direct access onto open fields. About the local area The surrounding area is well known for its pretty villages and excellent choice of shops, pubs and restaurants. The area is also renowned for its abundance of walking and cycling trails - the perfect way to unwind and to immerse oneself in this most scenic of Scottish regions. Loch Lomond, one of the great lochs of Scotland, is only 7 miles away at Balmaha. A variety of boat trips across and around this majestic stretch of water are available and it is also possible to hire a boat/kayak or buy a fishing permit for the day. The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park offers plenty of hill walking, ranging from a brisk ramble to more serious Munro "bagging". Golfers are also well catered for as there are numerous golf courses in the area. Balloch (just 9 miles from the property) is the home to the National Park Gateway Centre and the Loch Lomaond Shores and a Sea- life centre. Stirlingshire has a number of historic sites - Stirling Castle for example - and all within easy reach. By way of change of scene, it is possible to catch a train from Milngavie to the great city of Glasgow and its wonderful choice of amenities; its retail facilities are second to none and its cultural facilities enjoy an international reputation.
