Lucille's for Breakfast. Eggs Benedict addiction? Or should that be just, "Benediction"? Anyhow... Fabulous. Wonderful. Marvelous. Tasty Tasty Goodness. Seven offerings. Did I mention Beignets? They do lunch as well. You can't go wrong... Unless you're sticking to a calorie-controlled diet... LOL. Sorry. Just had to pick myself up of the floor. My diet is controlled by my calories. Many of them. As many as I can consume in fact. Especially when faced with breakfast foods. Enjoy. Edit

Always a line. That's the only drawback. But worth the wait. Fabulous Eggs Benedict. Style varies. Their pancake of the day differs daily (try saying that ten times fast). I had a "doughnut" flavored pancake once (upon a time in my food fairy tale) with coffee icing as the "syrup". My taste buds have been in mourning since that fateful day as nothing will ever compare... Cue Sinead O'Conner. Yes. It's that sad.

Devils' Food has two locations. One is a bakery and coffee shop. The other (next door) is a small, quaint restaurant with possibly the best Eggs Benedict in town. I'm torn. Lucille's and Snooze also have eggcellent Benedict. If your worst problem in life is deciding between them, you have an awesome life!

Gourmet nouveau-ish pizza aside, Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs is an institution. Even a right of passage for visitors experiencing Colorado in both the summer and winter. Think Mountain Pie, not pizza. Want thinnish crust? Or extra, extra thick? I usually go with standard and dip it in honey when I'm done with the main part of the pizza. Gluten-free, whole-wheat, white crust... Beau Jo's own sauce or ? Cheeses, meats, veggies. Great beer menu. And yes, there is a Beau Jo's in Evergreen and one in Denver but it's. just. not. the same. Go do a hike at St. Mary's Glacier and do Idaho Springs on the way back.

'Scuse me while my reminiscing makes me drool. Outstanding tastiness. Drool-worthy combinations. Great choices for wine, beer and margaritas. Outdoors or indoors seating. Super friendly, modern but low-key. Go catch a movie afterward or cruise around Cherry Creek and spend too much. :)

Two blocks from my house. Flaky deliciousness. Croissants from A (lmond) to S(trawberry cream) and everything in between. Gourmet french baguettes... Different offerings every day. Saturday is my favorite: Blue Cheese and Walnut. Though the standard offering - plain - and the Rosemary/Olive Oil are fabbbbbbulous.

If you love gourmet, niche pizza, we have a fantastic neighborhood bistro, "Esters" that opened about a year ago. Their nachos are mouth-watering (pulled pork, queso fresco and bbq sauce). They have a few awesome salads, some sandwiches and of course, what most people go for... The pizza (and the craft beers). Think arugula, figs, blue cheese and prosciutto... You won't be disappointed. The only drawback is it can be a little noisy, especially on Friday and Saturday nights but if you're feeling less than social, call ahead and get an order to go. Usually ready in 15 minutes.

Parks & Nature

St. Mary's Glacier is not a real glacier.. It's a snow field that sits 9 miles above exit 238 off of I-70. There are two parking lots at the bottom by the trailhead. Don't park on the road because you will get a ticket. Hike up the rocky path for about 3/4 mile and it opens up into a beautiful - very cold - lake with the snow field sitting above it. Hike up as far as you want. If you get to the top or beyond, there are spectacular views and tons of wildflowers (once the snow melts). Once you've worked up an appetite, head on to Idaho Springs for Beau Jo's pizza. Then head back to your airbnb away from home to relax.

It's June 11th as I write this, 2017, and the road just opened again after a massive snow dump a couple of weeks ago. If you crave snow in June or just want to see the spectacular views, head up to Mount Evans. You won't be disappointed. Want to hike? Bike? Fish? All doable. And if you just want to take in the photo opportunities around every corner from the comfort of your car, you can do that also. Would suggest coming back via Idaho Springs and stop for Beau Jo's pizza.

This is squarely in the category of culture because what's a visit to Denver without eating Rattlesnake or Rocky Mountain Oysters? Besides that, it's actually part museum and full-on Western landmark. Tamer entree's douse the menu in burgers, beef and buffalo (salmon, quail et al for those who don't like red meat). For those more adventurous, there is the aforementioned Rattlesnake, Rocky Mountain Oysters, and when available, Ostrich and Yak. Don't let the dead animals adorning the walls put you off your food. Probably not the place to go for the vegetarians among us.

Will there be books in heaven? 'Cos if not, I already know it will be my Number One complaint. Since the original Tattered Cover in Cherry Creek moved location to Colfax, the store downtown, in my humble opinion is the better place. Feels more like a bookstore "should". Towering shelves, hardwood floors, imaginary mustiness of old books, new ink smell of "just published" and an armchair or two to sit and let your mind do the wandering. And yes, I do sniff books and I don't loan them out unless forced on pain of death. If you understand going into a book store for "one" book, and coming out with a stack whilst attempting to shake a cold sweat, this is the place for you.
