Food Scene

Practically crawling distance to the house, which is a good thing once you’ve had a couple of their Margaritas. Fun joint, always crowded, but they serve a full menu at the bar, and you can usually find a seat. Good guac, great queso, and, if you eat meat, the steak picado is amazing

We all have our favorite ice cream shops -- this one’s ours. Again, not a cheap place, but the ice cream is world class. And they let you try as many flavors as you like. We’re big fans of the Milkiest Chocolate, the Whiskey and Pecan, and the Brown Butter Almond Brittle.

Right across the street from RosePepper. Very casual, very good, vegetarian and vegan menu. Always packed. They serve lunch and dinner. We’re big fans of the OG Beans and Greens, the Seitan Tacos and the Philly Cheese Sandwich, and we are most definitely NOT vegetarians. Closed Tuesdays.

In the very back of the same center that houses Jeni’s and Ugly Mugs, this new Japanese place serves up delicious ramen, great (but tiny) sushi, and really tasty small plates (crazy good Brussels sprouts of all things). Good cocktails, too. Great selection of Japanese whiskeys. Not cheap, servings are small, but it is a great looking spot, the service is swell and the food is delicious.

Best burger in Nashville. Period. Spectacular beer menu, in-house made sausages, great sandwiches. Warning – the wait can be ridiculous, but oh that burger.

Eclectic menu, plates to share, sitting at the bar and watching them cook is the best way to enjoy this place. The menu changes constantly, but it’s always good. The cocktails are swell, the prices high.

Drinks & Nightlife

This is a dive bar. A GREAT dive bar. Good burgers, great fries, decent fish and chips, etc. And it’s cheap, cheap, cheap! Ten bucks for a burger, fries and a beer. Plus, a fantastic juke box. Touring musicians tend to slip in after their shows. The bartenders are cool, the waitresses friendly. Like we said, a great dive bar.

This used to be a laundry (well, the one in the original location was) thus the name. Good cheap eats, good cold beer, GREAT live music. Tuesdays are big fun. Starting at 7:30 they host “Short Sets” -- lots of locals playing lots of great music and all sorts of great musicians, famous and not so much, show up and join in. And if you’re hungry, do try the shepherd’s pie. Yum!

Fun, divey. Live music some nights, DJ’s others. It’s small, so you are right there with the band. Motown Mondays are big fun. Everybody dances and nobody cares what you look like. We like this place.

The Urban Cowboy Public House is indoor and outdoor aspects. The indoor section is slightly more formal with seats for approximately two dozen guests, including eight spots at the bar. A garage door opens to the patio when the weather is suitable. The outdoor section has a mix-and-mingle approach, with a 16-foot fireplace, a variety of seating, string lights, and a fire pit. There’s also an Argentine grill, ready for grilling vegetables and meats. Dogs are welcome. Most of the materials at Urban Cowboy are vintage or restored.

Sightseeing

There's no better place to start absorbing Nashville's musical heritage than the Ryman Auditorium. It's no longer home to the Grand Ole Opry, but the auditorium continues to host contemporary acts.

Entertainment & Activities

It was this radio show — which began broadcasting in the 1920s — that put Nashville on the map as the "Country Music Capital of the World." Although its venue has changed over the years, the Grand Ole Opry continues to host top country performers like Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban. And a trip to Nashville isn't complete without stopping by the Grand Ole Opry House for a tour to look back through the ages. Get a behind-the-scenes look one of three ways: with a daytime tour, a post-show tour or a VIP tour. During a daytime tour, your guide will share stories of music legends who have walked the venue's hallowed halls & show you photos.
