We have not hiked this mountain but others have come here just to hike Mt. Mitchell. It is supposed to be the highest elevation east of the Mississippi.

The highest peak of the Appalachian Mountains! Takes a little over an hour to drive to the top on the gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway. From there, you can check out the incredible views and hike multiple trails up there. The parkway closes during parts of the winter if there is snow or ice.

“This place needs no introduction but it is a great place to sightsee, go on a wine tour, or grab a bite to eat. If you are planning on visiting Avl more than once look into season passes. Two visits pretty much covers it 👍”
