First state park in NC contains the tallest mountain in eastern North America (6684 feet). It has a number of trails from easy to challenging. Our family especially likes the hike from Mt. Mitchell to Mt. Craig.

Only about an hour away, Mt. Mitchell has a variety of outdoor activities and gorgeous views for its visitors. We love hiking from Mt. Mitchell to Mt. Craig!

Hike up to the highest peak in eastern mainland north america. 6,684 feet. well nice thing is you drive to about 6,600 feet. there are some great trails once you get there, and the drive up the parkway is very nice. Craggy Gardens and pinnacle hikes are along the way.

At 6,684', Mt. Mitchell is the highest peak east of the Mississippi river in North America. Right off the Blue Ridge Parkway, you can drive up close to the summit and do a short walk to the viewing area.
