Really beautiful trails that wind down to Rock Creek Park. Be careful as it can be muddy!

Located in Georgetown, this is a beautiful park with a historic house, and a very old cemetary. Great place to stroll on a nice afternoon.

This is a gorgeous and massive park in Georgetown. Think European manicured garden + museum. It's a great way to spend a day, and it's in a particularly gorgeous part of Georgetown.

In cherry blossom season they have the exact same trees as those down by the Jefferson Memorial, but in a completely different setting. I do think first-timers should see the "real" cherry blossoms, but if you want an alternative and shadier experience to discuss with friends, Dumbarton Oaks makes a nice half-day, with lunch nearby before or after. This one takes a bit of research, because at first glance it just seems like a house, a museum, and some grounds. Try to get on a tour.
