Hopsewee Plantation is location on the south Santee River and has a delightful restaurant and store. There is a fee to tour the original plantation home, but walking around the property is free of charge. I'd recommend having lunch at the restaurant - delicious local fare!

Example of plantations in the area, this is currently owner occupied. Great tour, and understanding of the golden era of rice growing. Slave cabins, tea room with great food, and presentation. Wander alone, or take the tour. Worth while!

Beautiful, historic plantation, serves lunch and is right down the street.

“Hobcaw Barony is a very large preservation of multiple historic plantation sites established and donated by Bernard Baruch and his daughter Zelle Baruch. There are two historic homes on the property as well as it is a 16,000 acre research reserve”
