Have a walk in the city center of Parma and enjoy the stunning view of the Duomo and Battistero! Entrance to the Duomo is free, and there are plenty of wonderful masterpieces by Correggio and Benedetto Antelami. Entrance to the Battistero requires a ticket, but it is money well spent.

A visit to Parma has to start from Piazza del Duomo, heart of the city’s art and sacred vocation. It hosts its two main symbolic places: the 12th century Cathedral , one of the best examples of Romanesque architecture in Italy and a treasure chest full of remarkable Renaissance works, like the amazing dome frescoed by Correggio, and, next to it, the imposing Baptistery with octagonal plan, entirely covered in pink marble and decorated with paintings and frescoes.

A pochi passi da piazza Garibaldi, La piazza, sulla quale si affacciano il Duomo, il Battistero e il Palazzo Vescovile, costituisce un autentico capolavoro di architettura medievale. La Cattedrale di Parma, la cui costruzione iniziò verso il 1059 per mano di maestri centro-lombardi, fu consacrata e dedicata a Santa Maria Assunta nel 1106

La cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta è il luogo di culto cattolico più importante di Parma, la chiesa madre della diocesi omonima. Sorge in piazza Duomo, accanto al magnifico e unico Battistero a pianta ottagonale e al Palazzo vescovile.
