Highly recommend catching the bus to the city, then jumping on a ferry to Manly. It's an amazing day trip. Beach, sun, lunch and drinks.

For a local spin on the beach, join the Bold & Beautiful swim squad at 7am from Nth Styne and ocean swim the 750m to Shelly Beach. Turn around and back another 750m. Or for the less fit walk back! Need to be comfortable with open ocean swimming but a supportive and large group (on summer weekends up to 100ppl) with you. The group swims every day of the year including winter

Queenscliff, Manly and Shelly Beaches. I popped Shelly Beach on the Activities section also. 3 beaches link here. They link with a boardwalk path. Manly beach is also historic and has a pedestrian shopping area that links to the Manly wharf with Ferry system that takes you to the city.
