The Hut in the Wild

Come and stay in our beautifully finished, tin shepherds hut at the bottom of our garden. We are located in the rolling countryside with extensive views over the vale of York. After a day of exploring this AONB, there’s nothing like cooking tea over the fire pit or wood pellet pizza oven followed by a dip under the stars in our rustic hot tub. Unwind in this beautifully restored Grade II listed, 17th Century farmers cottage with exposed beams, original ironwork, underfloor heating and a soothing log burning hot tub. Opposite you'll find a cosy, dog-friendly village pub with open fires. You’ll be 7 minutes away from artisanal food producers in the market town of Malton (known as Yorkshire's Food Capital) and ideally located for exploring the Yorkshire Wolds (2 miles), Howardian Hills (10 miles), York (17 miles) & Beaches (27 miles).

The Owlery at Mill Farm

Recently converted, the Owlery is the perfect self-catered rural escape for couples. With its double height vaulted ceiling and full height double aspect windows the open plan kitchen living diner offers a light and airy space to unwind and enjoy the view of surrounding fields. The bedroom has a Kingsize bed, Egyptian cotton sheets and En-Suite shower room. The Bathroom offers complimentary Bramley products and cotton bathrobes. Both areas are underfloor heated. There is a private garden.

Grooms Cottage is on a private estate right next to the ruins of Sheriff Hutton Castle. The property is in a peaceful setting but only two minutes walk away from the village pub and post office/general store. Our cottage was completely renovated in 2021 and is in a great location for walkers, cyclists, and explorers. It’s about 10 miles from both York and Malton, Castle Howard is under 6 miles away, and the coast can be reached in under an hour. Grooms Cottage sleeps 4 guests+2 babies +dogs

In the rural village of Sheriff Hutton, located just 20 minutes north of York and less than 1 hr from beach. Free parking. Your shepherd's hut is set in the enclosed, inner courtyard of the C14th castle ruins, your own private space. Atmospheric and perfect for relaxing, enjoying a quiet drink in the evening in front of the fire pit & gazing at a starry sky or the impressive ruins. We have 3 other stays, for couples, around the castle available if you would like to visit with friends. No WiFi.

Situated in a tranquil village within an area of outstanding natural beauty. The village boasts a fine dining pub with other local pubs within a short distance or even visit Malton the food capital. A perfect base for biking , walking or visiting Castle Howard, the North Yorkshire moors , East coast or York.

Peacefully situated on a hillside sheep farm with great views just 15 mins from York Park & Ride, 25 mins from York centre & 5 mins to Castle Howard in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Modern and well appointed with large gardens, comfy sofa’s, chairs & table for up to 6, fitted & equipped kitchen, comfy bedrooms, one on each floor, both en suite. A sofa bed is also available (fee applies).

Self cater, arrange meals provided by your host (a professional chef), or try one of the many eateries in town. Shops nearby. Your own private bathroom is situated a few yards away in the main house. You also can enjoy our beautiful garden, lily pond and friendly cat, Nina. Your hosts are always on hand to ensure a comfortable and nourishing experience.

Stunning rural shepherds hut

Located in the stunning Howardian Hills, this is a peaceful and romantic location. A perfect all year round escape. You park your car and the hut is a 5 minute walk from our house- make sure you pack suitable footwear. We can transport your luggage to the hut. The hut has cooking facilities (oven and a hob), there is also a fire pit for barbecues and a picnic table for outdoor dining. You have exclusive use of a hot tub which is right next to the hut.

Tarrs Yard is a beautifully restored early 18th century cottage, nestled in the valley between York and Malton. Ideal for walkers and nature lovers, the cottage is just a short drive from Castle Howard and close to the North Yorkshire Moors, Dalby Forest and the Yorkshire Coast. In a picturesque setting surrounded by uninterrupted views of the Howardian Hills and the Yorkshire Wolds, the cottage is perfectly positioned to enjoy the best of the great outdoors.

Set at the top of the village green with views of Sheriff Hutton Castle, our cottage is a luxurious rural retreat, furnished by an interior designer. The village has strong connections with Richard III, and is ideally situated to explore medieval York, Castle Howard, the North York Moors or the Yorkshire coast. There is a shop/Post Office, and walking routes right outside the door. The village pub, The Highwayman, serves good pub grub.
