Haruya Guesthouse

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. 서울의하루는 한옥을 만드는 호스트가 직접 지은 한옥을 호스팅하는 한옥전문 스테이입니다. 우연한 계기로 북촌에 한옥을 지어서 살아보니 남들에게 알려주고 싶은 장점이 많았습니다. 저처럼 평범한 사람들이 가진 한옥살이에 대한 막연한 꿈을 가까운 현실로 느끼길 바라는 마음으로 게스트들을 맞이하고자 합니다. 서울의하루 삼청동 집은 경복궁 청와대와 매우 가까운 서울의 중심부에 위치해있으며 15평의 아담한 크기입니다. 거실 하나 방 하나 아담한 주택으로 1-2인이 머무르기 적합합니다. 1936년에 지어진 집을 2019년에 제가 직접 고쳤습니다. 한국 전통 건축양식을 지킨 한옥이나 내부 공간은 입식생활이 가능하도록 현대적인 가구들을 배치하였습니다. 장기 투숙자를 위한 세탁기와 건조기 등 생활가전도 준비되어 있습니다. 여행자들에게 가장 중요한 것은 휴식이라 생각하고 침구류를 가장 신경쓰고 있습니다. 서울에 이런 곳도 있구나 나도 한옥 한번 살아볼까 하는 꿈을 이 곳에서 꾸길 바랍니다.

西村邸は、奈良町の一画に100年以上たたずむ、昔ながらの奈良町屋です。 ここは、ぼくが子どもの頃、長い時間を過ごした「おばあちゃんち」でした。 奈良町には、ずっと変わらない心地よい鄙(ひな)びがあります。 「これからの世代に、少しでもこの心地よい鄙(ひな)びにふれて欲しい。」 そんな想いで、空き家になっていた西村邸を、手入れしました。 - Nishimura-Tei is originally a traditional Japanese house which has been here in Nara-machi town over 100 years, where my grandmother used to live in. My mother and I decided to renovate this house to preserve and pass down the virtue of good old days in Japan to the next generation as well as to show it to you.

Our inn was apparently built in the early Showa period. We have renovated the bathroom and kitchen areas to make your stay more comfortable while still retaining the charm of the townhouse, such as the low ceilings and narrow, steep stairs. Why not try experiencing a bit of Kyoto life? Please note that we will charge a local accommodation tax (200 yen per person per night) in addition to the accommodation fee. The price is scheduled to increase from March 2026.

The 130-year-old Villa Kaede, originally built as a guest house by a founder of Arita Bank, has been beautifully renovated. Visitors can enjoy a garden that showcases the changing seasons. The villa also serves as a convenient base for day trips to places like Nagasaki City, Unzen, Ureshino, Sasebo, Hirado, and Huis Ten Bosch.
