This is a beautiful historical temple, without all the crowds of The Temple of the Tooth. It is situated on a high rock, and has marvellous views of the surrounding countryside. The temple contains a Hindu and a Buddhist Shrine, and has lovely old paintings. It also has one of the most magical Peraheras (Buddhist Festival) in the area if you happen to come in September. And you are unlikely to see another tourist!

The temple contains a Hindu and a Buddhist Shrine, and has lovely old paintings. It also has one of the most magical Peraheras (Buddhist Festival) in the area if you happen to come in September. And you are unlikely to see another tourist!

This is an Theravada Vipassana Meditation Centre where visitors who are interested in meditation are welcomed. It is surrounded by caves and in the middle of a very beautiful and remote forest. It is a mere half an hours walk from the house, and well worth visiting. Ladies must wear a long skirt and have their arms covered.

Great place to go for a swim. A lovely big swimming pool in beautiful surroundings forty minutes away in a tuktuk.
