The garden contains the largest collection of living plants and also has an in vitro gene bank, a 'cryo-gene bank "and a frøgenbank. Attached to the garden is also the largest collections of preserved plants and fungi in the form of seven herbaria, an alcohol collection, a utility assembly, a vedsamling and a seed collection.
Botanical Gardens should contribute to increase our knowledge and understanding of plant and fungal kingdom's diversity - and thereby promote knowledge of plants and fungi and their conservation. The garden will also strengthen the interest of national and global natural assets.
