Probably my favourite in Braunton, The Riverside is a great bustling little café in the day, and a contemporary restaurant during the evening. With a great selection of superb fresh, homemade food, there’s always something for everyone to enjoy. Cascades is a great place to take the kids, and fun for all the family. Located in the next village along, Cascades is North Devon’s only topical adventure pool, with waterfalls, water slides, flumes, rapids, water jets, Jacuzzi and much more.

Watermouth Castle takes you back in time to the simple pleasures of Victorian life. With plenty to do and see here, from animated scenes, to model railways, labyrinth dungeons to theme park rides, gnome world to water shows and gold panning to crazy golf – it’s well worth the visit. Watermouth Castle takes you back in time to the simple pleasures of Victorian life. With plenty to do and see here, from animated scenes, to model railways, labyrinth dungeons to theme park rides, gnome world to water shows and gold panning to crazy golf – it’s well worth the visit. It’s also set in a natural valley so you get truly fantastic views of the North Devon coastline from here.

The Tarka Trail follows the line of a disused railway, which has been converted into a 30 mile leisure trail tracking the scenic coastline of North Devon for both cyclists and walkers to enjoy. The track runs between Meeth and Barnstaple, with routes following both the Taw and Torridge estuaries. The trail is a haven for wildlife and offers outstanding views of the North Devon countryside. Be sure to take a stroll down to the Velator Wetlands too. It’s just off the Tarka Trail and is possibly the best place you’ll find to take the toddlers to feed the ducks.
