Food scene

Koko Cabana is a short walk from the house. The food is always delicious and its right on the ocean so you can't beat the view. They do get pretty busy but they don't take reservations so we recommend going for an early dinner, or planning ahead. You can go, put your name on the list, and then go for walk on the beach or pier or have a cocktail while you wait.

Coffee/Breakfast

Right on the pier, walking distance from the house, Ruby's has delicious coffee and an assortment of breakfast options to choose from.

Island Jo is a great little café for a coffee or breakfast/lunch to-go. They typically take their indoor dining away during the summer months because it gets so busy so would not recommend if you're looking for a sit down meal. If you don't want to wait in a long line, I recommend going right when they open at 8:00 or after 11:00 when the crowd has all gone to the beach. Breakfast is served all day and lunch starts at 11.

Sightseeing

The far west end of the island is a great spot to see the sunset. Parking is limited so keep that in mind. I recommend going around low tide and you might find a sharks tooth or two in the shell beds.

The Oak Island Pier is currently named the tallest pier in North Carolina. It's free to walk on and you're into fishing you can purchase passes from the Pier House that's attached to it. It's just a short 5 minute walk from the house and is connected to our favorite restaurant (Koko Cabana) and coffeehouse (Ruby's)

Where to go for a drink

The Grape and Ale is a great little hangout spot to grab a drink and relax. They have a wide array of beers and wines on tap or bottles for purchase. They typically do beer tastings on Thursday nights, and wine tasting on Friday nights. Saturday afternoons they have live music.
