Great section of the river near Pilar. Rent tubes to float or hire a guide for a day of rafting. This section is very tame so pay attention to where the rental staff tell you to get out. Next section of the river has a more challenging section for guided trips only.

Neighbourhoods

This is a town inspired by a little bit of Texas and a little bit of Germany. Very walkable with little shops and places to eat and drink. Fun summer and winter mountain activities including horseback riding, four wheeling, ropes courses, fishing, skiing, etc. Snow tubing in the winter is fun too.

When to eat out

Many restaurants in Taos shut down completely on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. And some stop seating at 7:30 to close at 8 or 8:30. Call ahead and go early.
