This is a family park. With good picnic facilities and shallow swimming areas, with great views of the surrounding peaks a perfect combination for a family day out. Even when busy it still feels peaceful.

The Auto Road is short drive to the observatory atop Mount Washington. The road is narrow in some places and provides many excellent lookouts of the beautiful mountains and valley surrounding the area. A CD is provided for the drive that gives information about the history of the road, the ecosystem and the observatory.

Was not expecting much at a mountain-side lodge, but the pizza was fantastic. There is garlic and basil in the dough/crust and a touch a of salt under the pizza - an unexpected but pleasant surprise.

Attitash has two peaks, Attitash and Bear Peak, both of which offer a variety of terrain. Attitash consists of old New England-style trails. The more challenging terrain on this mountain are narrow trails with challenging fall lines. It also offers a learning center, featuring a Snowbelt, Learning Center chairlift and the Double Double chairlift (627 vertical feet in 11 minutes),[7] which provides access to longer greens trails. Bear Peak was developed by the American Ski Company and features wider trails and glades. Both mountains have high-speed quads, the Flying Bear at Bear Peak taking skiers straight to the summit (1,462 vertical feet in 8 minutes), and the Flying Yankee at Attitash taking skiers halfway up the mountain (860 vertical feet in 6 minutes).[8] The Summit Triple (1,659 vertical feet) takes about 11.5 minutes to get to the top

Very popular - you definitely have to book ahead. We did the first train of the day which was a steam one, and the journey up and down was enjoyable - the guard made the trip more interesting.
It is a bit of a tourist business now, but despite that it is definitely worth doing, and fun.
