Take a look at the outstanding Caen Hill Locks on The Kennet and Avon Canal. There are a total of 16 locks forming the steepest part of the flight which totals 29 locks spanning approximately 2 miles.
Stop for a coffee and cake at the Caen Hill cafe and watch the boaters going up and down the locks. There is plenty of wildlife to watch too, including the swans and herons that frequent this area and the beautiful kingfishers.

The village is full of wonderful independent shops.

Torch is useful if arriving late at night.
When you stay on the boat please remember you are staying on a narrorw boat on a marina surrounded by water and other boats. There are some residential boats too.
Only drink bottled water, one bottle is supplied and a fresh water tap just on the boat jetty.
Please empty the chemi toilet before you leave.
Bring swan food and spend an evening feeding the swans and ducks, keeping an eye out for the resident heron and visiting kingfishers.
If you are lucky you may even see or hear the otters that live on this strip of the canal.
