Herrington Lake is stocked with rainbow trout in the spring and also has large-mouth bass, bluegill, pickerel and catfish.

Events include a Grand Feature Parade, Arts & Craft Shows, Farmer's Market, Banjo, Fiddle and Mandolin Championships, the Tournament of the Bands, the Great Pumpkin Race, Sunday Car Show, and No Hands Ice Cream Eating Contest.
The Maryland State Police estimate over 50,000 people attend and there are over 76 events, shows, sales, exhibits, demonstrations, etc. spread over the 4-day celebration.
