Neighborhoods

Shoreline is a lovely neighborhood just north of the city of Seattle. This area is full of family homes surrounded by tall trees and parks. Our house is within walking distance of shopping and public transportation. There are two public parks within walking distance of our house, as well as an elementary school with a track and soccer field. We are in the Ridgecrest area of Shoreline, which is quiet and peaceful.

Seattle Center is a wonderful part of the city— with the Space Needle, the Pacific Science Center, the opera, ballet, and theaters, as well as great restaurants. It’s in the Queen Ann area of Seattle, and you can take the monorail straight downtown.

This is the famous market where the fish vendors throw the salmon back and forth. There’s all kinds of food, flowers, souvenirs, arts and crafts here, and it’s right on the waterfront within walking distance of the ferries, the Seattle Art Museum, and the Great Wheel Ferris wheel that gives you a great view of Puget Sound.

Indigenous culture

The Argosy tour boat takes visitors to this island in Eliot Bay for a experience of food and culture presented by the Coastal Salish tribes of the Pacific Northwest. Guests have a salmon dinner while tribe members sing and dance the history of the area before the white explorers arrived. You will see many artifacts, totems, and crafts, and have a chance to walk around the island before returning to the Seattle waterfront. It’s an unforgettable experience!
