Ravenna is different from all you have visited before. First of all it is much older than the rest of the "famous cities" because all the churches and buildings are from the V, VI or VII Century. That means 1500 years old. Can you imagine? Ravenna was the capital of the Western Romam empire and t is known for its well-preserved late Roman and Byzantine architecture, with eight buildings comprising the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Early Christian Monuments of Ravenna". They are all gorgeous!

When I have guests for a few days I love taking them to Ravenna. There are so many reasons why. The city is not far from Bologna. You can reach it in an hour by car. There's free parking near down town. I know some good restaurants there and the main reason is: Ravenna is totally amazing!

Ferrara is definitely worth a visit if you have some time to spare.
It has a wonderful cathedral and many places to visit: the Este Castle (family that dominated the city during the Renaissance) the Palazzo dei Diamanti, which is the seat of the National Pinacoteca of Ferrara, the Schifanoia Palace (ancient leisure residence of the Este family ), and much more.
Bellissima città a pochi chilometri da Bologna.
Ferrara merita decisamente una visita se si ha a disposizione un po' di tempo da dedicare.
Città d'arte. Ha un duomo meraviglioso e moltissimi posti da visitare: il Castello degli Este (famiglia che dominò la città durante il Rinascimento) il Palazzo dei Diamanti, che è la sede della Pinacoteca Nazionale di Ferrara, il Palazzo Schifanoia (antica dimora di svago della famiglia estense), e molto altro.
