Food scene

Our favourite very local place to go, food is lovely and the setting is great too. Fresh small plates with an Asian influence. Staff are lovely and the wine list is great too. 4- 5 minute drive or a 20-25 minute walk so drive there and walk back if you have a few drinks. Go left out of Waters Edge, left at the crossroads and after 800 yards go left at the next mini crossroads. .

Really good pizzas cooked in a wood oven, delish toppings. Set at the Gateway centre just a 4-5 minute drive or a 20 minute walk away, they share the ‘hideout’ marquee with bar@lake 6 on the edge of Lake 6. A DJ usually plays chill out tunes on a Friday, Sat and Sunday between 3 - 7.30. You can just takeaway if you prefer

I can not recommend this enough, it’s a magical circus loved by children and adults alike. There is a lot of adult humour so don’t be put off. Every year they have a different theme, there is a bar and a pizzeria there or take a few drinkie poos and a picnic with you. The circus is based as Fennels Farm near Stroud for the whole of April, approx a 30 minute drive away

City/town information

A lovely old town 15 minutes away from the lodge. Recently voted as the best place to live in the whole of the South West. Black Jack street is called the Notting Hill of the Cotswolds because of its lovely independent shops and eateries. There is beautiful old Abbey and the Abbey Gardens behind it with a lake where you can sit and eat produce bought from the Saturday farmers market. Try a nice 45 minute walk onto the Bathhurst Estate via Cecily Hill where you may also catch a game of cricket behind the trees on the left or a coffee from the sweet horse box. Beautiful...

A beautiful old Spa Town with so much to offer. Just a 35 minute drive from the lodge it has over 300 restaurants and bars and unlike many towns it has lots of individual shops. It’s called the festival town as its home to the Literature, Jazz, Food & Drink, Science and Music Festivals… and not forgetting the races 5-6 times a year. You can even book an old fashioned Steam train for a countryside trip to Winchcome and back.
