A great spot in the marina at South Harbour. This is walking distance from the rental. The crabcakes are in my opinion the best in the area! Enjoy lunch or dinner on the waterway. They also feature bands occasionally.

This is hands down in my top five restaurants in all of Brunswick county. Lucky for you it is literally 50 feet outside the door of the rental...in the building next to our rental. Absolutely delicious Italian food prepared with love and care. Professional and courteous wait staff and a great view of the marina.

Great restaurant with laid back vibes. A little small so sometimes it might be difficult to find a spot...but a cool place to chill.

A local and national legend. Everyone should experience Provision Company if you visit Southport. The menu is basic but full of yummy seafood. The restaurant is all open-air and the views of the Southport Yacht Basin are exceptional.

This is a wonderful restaurant to experience local cuisine. The restaurant has been family owned and operated since opening. Food is sourced locally and is absolutely delicious! They take reservations (usually) so I highly recommend calling ahead.

A great bar on the intracoastal waterway in Southport. Located in the Yacht Basin area. Grab dinner and then head to American Fish for a few cocktails. Occasionally they have bands and musicians performing on the weekends.

Sightseeing
This is my favorite area to enjoy the beach. It's a short drive from the rental. During the summer season they have outdoor showers available. Porta-potties are available all year (not the best option but OKI does not have a lot of bathroom access on the beach).

Rent a bike or take a walk along the tree lined historical streets of Southport. Southport is known for its salubrious breezes. There are a number of quaint old homes and unique boutiques and shops along Howe St. , Moore St. and Bay St. Golf cart rentals and/or tours are available for those who might not be able to experience the town on foot or bike. Golf cart tours are available for those interested in the history of Southport. During the Fourth of July the Town hosts the State of NC official Fourth of July festival...which is quite the production. Check the town website for ongoing festivals and activities to enjoy while in town.

The ferry service to Fort Fisher
The ferry leaving Southport and arriving in Fort Fisher is a really fun experience. It's a great way to visit the aquarium as well as the historical area of Fort Fisher. Driving on the beach is also allowed with 4x4 vehicles. During the summer season the ferry can be VERY busy. Arrive to the terminal at least 15 minutes before departure. It is not uncommon to have to wait in line during this time and catch the next ferry. The same is true for the returning trip from Ft. Fisher to Southport. Plan ahead in the summer for a longer commute.

Sunset or Sunrise on the beach
Take a quick drive to Oak Island and catch a sunset. Oak Island is a south facing beach. This allows for great views of sunsets and sunrises on the beach. Depending on the time of year you can catch extraordinary views of the sun. My favorite spot is the Point...the drive as far as you can on the beach heading west. You can view the sunset there on the intracoastal waterway or on the ocean depending on the location of the sun.
