Informational

The Big Bear Visitors Center is the #1 source for information for visitors to Big Bear Lake. Also a valuable resource for residents, we provide people with information about lodging, dining, recreation, and more. The Visitors Center also provides firsthand information during emergencies, special events, and during the holidays to make traveling to Big Bear a smooth and enjoyable process. Our Visitors Center is located in The Village on the corner of Pine Knot Ave and Big Bear Blvd. Building hours will be from 10 AM - 4 PM Tuesday - Sunday. Face masks will be required, the entrance will be monitored to ensure limited capacity, and no food will be permitted in the building. We will be asking all Visitor Center entrants to fill out a survey to be used in contract tracing should the need arise. Our awesome staff will of course still be answering calls (800-424-4232).

Unfortunately, it is currently closed but it is listed for your future reference. This is a very quaint museum with old west buildings and artifacts. You can pan for "gold" and watch blacksmiths making things in front of your eyes. https://bigbearhistory.org/ https://www.yelp.com/biz/big-bear-valley-historical-museum-big-bear-city

There are several hiking trails at varying difficulty levels. The easiest and most scenic is the one is Alpine Pedal trail along the lake. From the trail, you can walk down to the shore and walk along the water (informal trail). You can look for bald eagles as there are a few resident bald eagles in Big Bear Lake. https://www.bigbear.com/things-to-do/outdoors-active/top-trails/

The Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a rehabilitation facility offering injured, orphaned and imprinted wild animals a safe haven, temporarily while they heal, or permanently, as they are unable to survive on their own. We are extremely proud that 90% of all the animals brought to us for rehabilitation are successfully released back into their native environment. Those that remain with us on exhibit are either too injured or have been imprinted by humans and cannot be released back into the wild to care for themselves. https://bigbearzoo.org/
