Samaria Gorge is a National Park of Greece since 1962 and a major tourist attraction of the island – and a World's Biosphere Reserve. The gorge is in southwest Crete in the regional unit of Chania and it needs 5-6 hours to cross it. At the end of the gorge, Agia Roumeli beach awaits for for a dip. Tavernas are also available there, so you can grab a bite before taking the ferry to Chora Sfakion.
