Sightseeing

Exit subway station 4 and keep walking straight. Cross the second intersection and you’ll be in Sinnae Park, where you can hop on the hiking path. The mountain is pretty small, so the hike is pretty easy. It takes around 30 minutes to the peak, where there are refreshments, games, and a fantastic view of Seoul! Bring a friend and pack a lunch!

This abandoned amusement park closed when a young girl lost her life in an accident. Some people say she haunts the ghost park now. I’m not sure about that, but it’s a very popular tourist attraction, as well as a K-Pop video hotspot! Take a walk through the eerie park and bring your camera. I’d recommend taking a bus here.

Transfer to line 7 at Taerung Station and go up to Nowon Station. This is a booming area in northeast Seoul. There’s a rodeo shopping street, many different restaurants, and a shopping mall. You can find art on the streets and bright lights at every corner.

20-30 minutes on the subway will also take you to Gwangjang Market. I recommend the market as well as the neighboring Cheonggyecheon Stream. The Euljiro District is also in this area. You’ll find many hidden bars and cafes here in Seoul’s oldest district. Nicknamed “Hip-jiro,” it’s very unique. If you like wine or craft beer, this is the place! They turn in earlier than most Seoul neighborhoods. Bars usually close their doors at 2AM. As the kids like to say, this is where the cool kids hang out!

Home to a women's university. Much like Korea University, cheap eats, drinks, and a popular area for street performers. There's also a famous mural village if you like art.

Take line 6 for 30 minutes to Itaewon Station, foreigner central, and a great spot to see Namsan Tower. Haebangchok (HBC to foreigners) is a great neighboring area as well. You can find all kinds of ethnic foods here, and some of the best views of Namsan Tower can be seen in this neighborhood.

From Bonghwasan, hot spots in Seoul aren’t too difficult to reach. Transfer to line 1 at Dongmyo and you can be in Jongno in about 20 minutes. This is the richest spot in Seoul in my opinion. So many old castles and retro fun! 20-30 minutes on the subway will also take you to Gwangjang Market. I recommend the market as well as the neighboring Cheonggyecheon Stream. Transfer to line 2 at Sindang Station and ride to Hongdae. OR! If you don’t want to go so far, I recommend Kondae. Transfer to line 7 at Taerung Station and ride down to Kondae, an equally bustling college town. Unlike Hongdae, Kondae is a 10 minute walk to the Han River (Ttukseom Park), and home to Seoul’s China Town and Rodeo Shopping Street. You can eat lamb skewers on the street and find many delicious restaurants. Kondae also has Star City Mall and Common Ground, a very unique and picturesque shopping center. It's bright lights and lively crowd stay up all night!

In Korea, there are some apps that will help you get around

I recommend: Kakao Maps OR Naver Maps Google Maps won’t help you much here. I prefer Naver. The timetable is really accurate, and with both apps you can drop pins to friends. Seoul Metro Map of the subway. Kakao Taxi This allows you to enter your destination and call a taxi. I’m not sure how well you speak Korean, but they tend to call you.
