Old Jaffa Port (also known as Namal Yafo) was the ancient port of the city of Jaffa, out of which modern day Tel Aviv has grown. The Old Jaffa Port is reputed to be one of the oldest ports in the world, notably being the port from which Jonah set off in the famous Biblical story of Jonah and the Whale. Its long and fascinating history as strategic port in the Eastern Mediterranean continued until only recently when new ports were built south of Tel Aviv in Ashdod and north in Haifa, to cater for modern-day shipping methods. Today the port is used largely by local fishermen who continue the centuries old tradition of the area.

Rosh Hanikra is an incredible geological creation at the farthest point north on Israel’s Mediterranean Coastline in the Western Galilee region. The grottoes and caves at Rosh Hanikra are the results of thousands of years of the power of the sea, and after a short yet exhilarating cable car ride down the cliff face, visitors can explore these incredible formations for themselves, following trails throughout the year. Just meters from Israel’s border with Lebanon, this is an amazing point, a beautiful point, and a point that you will not regret visiting.

There is a life guard during summer season, toilets and shades, but otherwise the beach is quite secluded and not many people. Expect to pay 30 NIS to park in the main carpark.
