Neighbourhoods

Ottery St Mary is the local town which has the groceries, butchers, hairdressers, DIY shops, Sainsbury’s, the Samosa lady, the rusty pig. Spectacular church in Ottery St Mary is a scaled down replica of the Exeter Cathedral. On bonfire night the town hosts the Tarr barrels, not to be missed if you’re staying during this date. It is not for the lighthearted and Louise highly recommends you talk to her with safety tips and best viewing spots before going.

Beaches

Branscombe was one of the most relaxing and picturesque of his Devon many villages. Believed to be the longest village in the country, it’s sweeps down along spectacular Valley, past colourful cottages and down to the sea. Occasionally dolphins have been seen on Branscombe Beach and it’s a lovely starting point for a walk along the Jurassic Coast line.

If you’re looking for a quiet beach then this is the one for you. Not recommended for families with small children as it’s very steep scramble down to the beach with hundreds of steps. Well worth the effort though and stunning views. I recommend parking up at Salcombe Regis church and walking down towards the coastline follow the signs for the beach.
