Basilica Santa Maria Del Mar The first mention of the Santa Maria del Mar was in 998, yet as you can see when you visit the basilica, the cornerstone was laid in 1329. The style is a perfect example of 14th century Catalan Gothic and the temple is seen as an icon for Catalan Gothic. It´s situated in the middle of the little, cozy streets of El Born, la Ribera area. Especially the inside is really impressive, imagine it took about 5000 persons to build this temple.

Bunkers of Carmel, today what is left of them are the old concrete platforms that were once part of anti-aircraft battery during the Spanish Civil War. In the post-War it was a shanty town until the early 1990s (you will find tiled floors of what used to be houses), and has lain abandoned since then. It offers amazing views, from this place full of history, as post civil-war immigration to Barcelona is very important to urbanisation of this wonderful city, thanks to which Barcelona is what it is.

The "Boqueria" Food Market is a must-see during a trip to Barcelona along with the Ramblas or Plaza Real which are in the same area. You can also use a rowing boat on the lake. On the grounds of the Parc de la Ciutadella, there are several attractions: the Catalan Parliament, The Museu d'Art Modern is situated in the building of the parliament. The Zoological Museum and the Museu de Geologia are placed in the area of the park. The Zoo is located in Parc de la Ciutadella which is worth a visit, especially with the whole family. There are almost 7.500 animals which represent 400 different species.
