Parks & Nature
This place is one of L.A's gems!, it seems that many Los Angelenos don't even know it exists but it is absolutely stunning, it's hard to believe you are in LA when you are at these rock pools, the drive there is beautiful and the hike to the pools only takes about 40 mins, take water as it gets HOT. when you get there you can take a plunge in the rock pools. I'd suggest scaling the rocks and going to the backside of the main pool, its really breathtaking

Malibu Creek Rock Pools
This place is one of L.A's gems!, it seems that many Los Angelenos don't even know it exists but it is absolutely stunning, it's hard to believe you are in LA when you are at these rock pools, the drive there is beautiful and the hike to the pools only takes about 40 mins, take water as it gets HOT. when you get there you can take a plunge in the rock pools. I'd suggest scaling the rocks and going to the backside of the main pool, its really breathtaking
This is one of the best parks in California to hang out with the kids for the day, I'd suggest driving all the way to the top of the park, just drive until you get the the parking lot at the top, you cant go any further. Theres a nice little park there at the top for young kids, then off to the right you can do a little scenic tour to a grassy area which has the best view of downtown LA. theres an expansive grassy area which used to be the reservoir with rolling hills, its fun to just lay out a blanket and have a picnic, its great if you have kids because you can let them run off whilst you chill, the kids can go quite far without ever being out of sight - parking is 7.00 weekends, free during the week

Theres always others hiking along the way so it's not totally remote, this is my favorite hike in LA

Although it's small, Taschen has some really cool exhibits, it's constantly changing its exhibits so check out the gallery website to see whats happening, Taschen usually has some risque art, they are known for pushing the boundaries but they are one of my favorite galleries and book makers. entrance is free and theres plenty of parking - closed mondays

I love the Annenberg space for photography, they have some really cool exhibits there. They typically show a lot of socially conscious work but it is always done so well. its free but parking is about 15 bucks - I think they validate though

Sightseeing
This is a great place for a date or to take the kids. it's a great place to view LA skyline from, the telescope is open to the public so you can get in line and view the planets
