Fun things to do near the cabin
The cabin is a great central location to a lot of great activities and day trips. The best way to have a great experience is to not try and do too many things in one day. Because things are spread out, travel times have to be accounted for in your plans. Most of these activities will require a minimum of 3 hour commitment including travel time.

There are no grocery or convenience stores in Green Mountain Falls. But all the shopping you'll need is only a few minutes away. Further up the Ute Pass is a huge Wal Mart with Starbucks and Verizon shop. A few miles further up is the town of Woodland Park which has everything else you could need.
This Walmart is designed to be a one stop shop for the locals who have limited shopping options. From home improvement to snacks, they have it all.

Cell phone use in the Mountains
While it's better than it ever has been, cell service can still be spotty in the mountains. Typically if you have trouble getting a good cell signal at the cabin or in town, heading up to the highway or better yet, making a trip to Woodland Park about 15 minutes away will give you a very strong signal you can count on. If you are looking for high speed wifi, there is a Starbucks only about 8 minutes away next to the Walmart off the highway toward Woodland Park.
