Take The L train to Bedford. There is a great deal of shopping including: Le Labo, Urban Outfitters, Doc Martens, Levis etc. There's a lot of great thrift and book stores all over, including Stella Dallas and Spoonville.
Grab a bite at the North 3rd Market, or Sweet Chick (Southern comfort with an urban twist), Cafe Collette (French), Suzume (Ramen).
