Beautiful Hill Country drive to this great local spot about 15 minutes from the home. Offers southern comfort food with a great outdoor area, televised sports, and often live music. Think Paula Dean with lots of butter! You'll even find a legit Frito Pie on the menu. They also have brunch on the weekend. I love their Salmon dinner entree and the Chicken Fried Chicken is very good too. We've not yet had anything from here we didn't enjoy.

Rated one of the top 50 BBQ joints in Texas. So if you have had your fill of Salt Lick and want to try another local favorite, we highly recommend Valentina's. We personally prefer it over Salt Lick if doing take out. It is a food truck about 15 min from the house and they have a large covered area with tons of tables and heaters. Brisket Tacos are AMAZING! There is often a long line, but it is worth it. Sometimes they sell out of items, so go early.

This place has everything... live music, food trucks, beach volleyball, yard games and more. It gets pretty crowded and most of the gathering and sitting area is outside, so I wouldn't recommend this location for a rainy day. We always have a blast here!

This is our favorite Driftwood winery, which is why we are members there. The wine is good and the views are outstanding especially for sunset. Please note this is not a kid-friendly winery. Kids are not allowed in the tasting room and some reviews mention they didn't feel comfortable outside with kids. This can be great though, if you are looking for a quiet romantic spot to enjoy wine and watch a beautiful sunset!

From the outside you would probably drive right past because it looks like a commercial storage area. Around the back is the tasting room and is one of our favorite little secret spots to take visitors for a drink. Their vodka drinks are great, but we aren't a fan of the rum because it has almost a tequila flavor. The staff is so friendly!

The Barton Creek Greenbelt is so beloved that locals commonly refer to it as “the Greenbelt,” as if it were the only one. Park at the MoPac and 360 overpass to hike along the river up to Twin Falls and Sculpture Falls. If you want an easy hike, it is less than a mile to Twin Falls. If you are looking for something more strenuous, google "Hill of Life" and park there to walk down a hill which puts you closer to Sculpture Falls. Just be sure to save energy for the hike back up the hill - it's intense, but doable for the average person. Both are wet weather creeks, so depending on the time of year there may not be much water.

Everything we have eaten there is good especially the cheese fries, buffalo cauliflower, and burgers.

You can also visit nearby Enchanted Rock or make a stop in Blanco on the way.

"Market Days" is the first Saturday of the month, March through December, and is open 7-4. Even if you miss Market Days, Wimberley is a cute little town with lots of boutiques and dining options. There is also a great park, Blue Hole Regional Park, with a popular 3-acre swimming area.
