This is a charming area of mixed storefronts including Italian grocery stores, bars, restaurants, and shopping. Some of the bars have live bands at night. If you walk from the apartment down Liberty Ave in this direction, it becomes a steady stream of things to do/see/eat.

Ellsworth is one of the best spots locally for night life. It has a mix of casual bars/restaurants, as well as some more sophisticated places. A few artsy shops are open during the day. This area includes the Bites & Brews, 1947 Tavern, Soba, and Umi restaurants that I've mentioned.

This is another collection of restaurants and businesses of great variety. It includes the Noodlehead, Buffalo Blues, Casbah, and Spoon restaurants I've mentioned, as well as a few other restaurants, shops, and galleries.

Famous for their thin, crepe-like pancakes. It's diner food, but the stuffed pancakes are delicious (strawberry ones are the best). The President ate at a Pamela's when he was in Pittsburgh.
