Many very good local bars and restaurants between Valmont and Napoleon. Kind of a hip, up and coming neighborhood. You could walk these bars from the house.

A great drinking spot, Magazine has pockets of bars and restaurants all the way from Audubon to the Quarter. There are plenty that are an easy walk from the house

A hundred year old Oyster bar and seafood joint. Great happy hour till 6:30, $.50 oysters and cheapish drinks. Up Town T, the oyster shucker is the man.

Hey go for a $2 ferry ride across the river. Algiers is Nola's second oldest neighborhood and it's fun and cheap to cross the river. Just don't stay past 10, you'll be stuck!!!
