5 minute walk start on Orde Street down the hill from the house. Recognise this place by the "giant ice-cream cone" shaped hut in the heart of Minden(at the bridge). The food and the atmosphere is great. They are most known as a great ice-cream stop on the river, with playground and seating but also have great food, coffee and pastries! Great for kids and adults alike.

The Minden River Cone

It also connects on Invergordon with the wetland boardwalk. The trail has a naturalized shoreline to the river which attracts birds butterflies and flower enthusiasts. Use the trail for a walk OR walk it to get upstream and launch in for a float downstream. It is delightful.

Minden Rotary Park - Hwy 35 and Rotary Park Road. Just a tiny bit north of Kawartha Dairy. Playground and swing sets. Shallow swim/wading areas. Also can start a long river float from here. End in downtown for an easy exit at the public docks at the bridge. Or if you are brave - float further down Orde street - but your exit will be a little more rustic! as there is no formal exit point and you will need to be ok with river grass (in the water) as you exit the shore.

Also can start a long river float from here. End in downtown for an easy exit at the public docks at the bridge. Or if you are brave - float further down Orde street - but your exit will be a little more rustic! as there is no formal exit point and you will need to be ok with river grass (in the water) as you exit the shore.

Outdoor activities
Public beach/water launch area beside 72 Invergordon. 15-20 minute walk from house. - take the riverwalk trail to get there. This is a great spot to stop on your bike ride, or walk to cool down or as a destination spot to launch yourself on a float downstream to the rivercone! You will know you are there when you see the metal walking bridge. It is just past that.

There may also be 4 wheelers mudding their way through. Look up the Queen Elizabeth Provincial Park for more information, maps etc. It is a hjuge park! As a day trip (WHEN IT IS NOT HUNTING SEASON) I would recommend this for mountain biking and exploring my mountain bike. Easy unofficia access from the end of Scotch Line Road, a few places to park there. There are maps online. If you get to beer lake - go for a swim. - it might be the only time you get a chance to swim in the pretend "lake of beer" ::)
You can also enter from 1115 Devils lake Road which is considered to be the main entry. At this location you can swim as soon as you get there. This is natural environment park - no fee - no onsite services. Check their (above) website for safety and permitted activities.

Great for snowshoeing and X country skiing in winter. Dog friendly but dogs expected to be on leash or otherwise in control :)
This location is a local trailhead to the Ganaraska Trail!. The "Alltrails" app provides maps of all the trails and loops from here that allow you to pick the distance and difficulty of your hike. There is also a boat launch there that is great for a half day canoe trip.

This location is a local trailhead to the Ganaraska Trail!. The "Alltrails" app provides maps of all the trails and loops from here that allow you to pick the distance and difficulty of your hike. There is also a boat launch there that is great for a half day canoe trip.
This is a fun place for all ages and super close to town. In addition to go-carting they have a couple batting cages and very rustic (read not level) mini-golf which is fund.

It is right beside the curling rink, tennis courts, skate park and baseball diamonds and playground ( 2 behind the centre and one beside the curling rink at the fairgrounds).
