This fun place is only two minutes from the Snoozy Moose. We took the kids and they had a blast panning for gold, getting a sword made from a nail by the blacksmith and making a Morse code bracelet. There is so much history in Big Bear and these volunteers do such a great job educating visitors.

Food scene

Our favorite place for pizza in Big Bear. If you plan to dine in, arrive before you are starving because there is usually a good wait. We like calling in take-out and either bring it back to the Snoozy Moose or taking it along for a picnic.

Neighborhoods

Big Bear is famous for it's four seasons and abundance of outdoor activities for nature lovers. We love coming in May to see all of the spring flowers. The summer is great for hiking, boating and biking. The fall and winter are great for skiing, snow boarding, horseback riding and celebrating the holidays! There's always a good reason to escape here. It's also unique to all of Southern California.

Consejos para la ciudad

Antes de que te vayas

Snow Chains

Before you head up the mountain, make sure you check the weather. You may need snow chains depending on the time of year you visit.

Bring your own food!

Restaurants are fun but depending on the weather and your energy level, you may prefer to stay in and enjoy cooking in our kitchen or on the grill. If you need to pick up some last minute groceries, there's Community Market just down the street. Otherwise, Stater Bros and Vons are ten minutes away.

Avoiding car sickness

Do you have kiddos that don't do so well with the curves? You are not alone. Some people give there littles a chewable Bonine before starting their trip. Otherwise, offer them fresh air and keep them looking out the windows (instead of staring at electronic devices). The 38 is less curvy than the 18.

What to bring

Bring your food, beverages, clothes, shoes for outside and slippers for inside, and your preferred toiletries. We provide some too. If you plan to bike, ski, snow board, boat, or off-road you will need those items. Remember your snow chains!

Driving up and down the mountain

If you are not used to driving up and down the mountain it can be a bit unnerving at first. Just take your time and remember to look if for the 1/4 mile turnout signs if you need to pull over and let others pass you. When you are on Peter Avenue, please drive slowly as there are neighborhood kids playing out front and on the street frequently.
