Sightseeing

Fascinating old treehouses built under a cliff to shield them from rain. In the summer they have a small kiosk there. Across the road you can walk up the mountain on old train tracks(called "Fladen"). The trip is short but steep (time to the top: 15-40 minutes, depending on your fitness level). The view from the top is breathtaking!

A large rock weighing several tons is situated in just the right angle to be able to rock it back and forth just by hand. If you want to feel strong like superman, try this.

Old mines carved in the mountains. The ground is full of iron rocks (called "malm"), so here you can find a souvenir for free if that interests you. You can also park the car and walk along the gravel road and take in the fascinating historic scenery and read information posters. Stroller friendly. You can make the walk as long or short as you like, just turn around when you want to.

Swimming location

A relaxing place for swimming. Suitable for small kids, since the water is fairly shallow. Bring your own coal and use the barbecue grill. Tip: bring sandals for the kids, since the rocks on the "beach" are a bit rough/sharp.

Great place for swimming for adults/youths. The water is deep and refreshing. Swim across the water and jump from the 7 meter tall cliff if you dare!

This area is what our Municipality is most famous for. Go here a day when the sun is shining and stroll slowly through the streets. If you like fishing, you can fish in the sea from the dock. If you want to fish in the river, you need a license.

Hiking trips

This is a great starting point for different hikes. Option 1: walk a loop around Lindland: follow the gravel road until you reach a bridge. When you get to the asphalt, keep taking right turns until you see your car again. Length: 2,5-3 km. Stroller friendly. Option 2: Same as above, but after the bridge, follow a path up the mountain. When you get to a gravel road again, keep walking straight ahead (don't turn left). When you reach the asphalt road, cross it and walk a narrow black metal bridge across the river. Turn right and follow the path back down to "sivilisation". When you reach asphalt again, just follow the road for a few hundred meters and take the foot bridge across the river. Your car will come up on your right side when you pass the semetary. This trip goes a bit offroad, so not very stroller friendly. Option 3: Park by the semetary. Walk on the gravel road until you see a path going into a pine forest. There is a sign that says "Eventyrskogen". Walk up this path. Keep taking left turns when the road splits. When you get out of the forest, also choose the path to the left. Eventually you should get to a playground (called Frøyland Lekeplass, I think you can find it on google maps). Then just follow the road straight ahead until you reach our street (Risbakken). If you get lost, google maps is your friend. Wear shoes that are water resistant, since it is often wet in the woods. Length: 1 hour give or take. PS: all of these trips are possible to do from our house without using a car. Just go to the end of the street, through the gate and down the hill. You will see the semetary straight ahead.
