Another cracking free museum in Glasgow with an amazing, recreated cobbled Glasgow street of a time gone by. Also houses the Tall Ship, which was built in1896 and is the only remaining Clyde built sailing vessel afloat in the UK and an icon of Glasgow ship building heritage.

Practically across the road from the flat is this fantastic green space. Home to a children’s play park, tea house, picnic benches, specular monkey puzzle trees, food cart, river walks along the river Kelvin, squirrels, a glass house, and the iconic Kibble palace. This is the round glass building close to the main entrance which houses many almost hypnotic goldfish, exotic plants to learn about.

Things to do

As the weather isn’t always agreeable in Glasgow, it helps that all Glasgow museums and all art galleries, of which there are many, are free. Glasgow is also known as the green city due to its number of green spaces versus city residents, from gorgeous quaint communal gardens to the likes of the sprawling 85 acre Kelvin grove park. Also bear in mind, when travelling on the subway, pushchairs must be folded up.

Getting about.

The underground is the best way to get about. Locally known as the clockwork orange, (due to its orange cars) it only goes in 2 directions , so even though you get on the train, going the wrong direction.....eventually you will end up at the correct place. As it takes 24 minutes to go a full circle route. There are also many buses that can take you all over the city, not to mention the famous Glasgow taxi tour and Glasgow sightseeing bus. Glasgow is a very walkable city on a nice day.

What to bring

Although there is an umbrella in the flat, a good rain jacket and walking shoes would be sensible.
