Sightseeing

It’s free and there’s so much to see and do here. If you don’t have a lot of time and/or are not interested in the museum, it’s a great place to cut through just to take a look at the Victorian architecture in the main hall. If you have longer, take the lift up to the roof terrace for great views of the city including the Castle.

It’s a must see-do when in Edinburgh isn’t it? Even if you don’t go in, you can walk up to it - right at the top of the Royal Mile and take some photos from the outside. During August the esplanade (area outside in front of the castle) is usually set up for the Military Tattoo so access may be limited.

Lovely little Indian restaurant only a short walk from my house and on the way into town. It boasts a quirky Charles Rennie Mackintosh-style interior and I love the Chicken Exotica, Pathia and the Red Fort Chicken. Probably best to book!
