We like to joke that this place is like a slice of LA. It's very organic/hipster but in fact the food quality is wonderful. Not too many cafes at this end of the beach so good excuse if you're in the hood.

Good walks, dramatic clifftop views and aussie nature all around protected North Head reserve. Old military gun placements and bunks to be found if you're a history buff.

Shelly is a lovely cove for swimming if you're not big on waves, very calm which is why it's a snorkellers paradise. Whole area is marine protected (no fishing) so the sea life is wonderful.

Otherwise known as Manly Beach (technically 3 beaches: South Steyne, North Steyne, Queenscliff). Each have their own beach patrol so try to swim between the flags.
Excellent for surfing.

Getting Around
There's no better way to get into the city. 20mins on the fast ferry, 30mins on the slow ferry. Both pass the Opera House and Harbour Bridge en route to the city. Most beautiful commute in the world!

Historic pub on the ocean. Is huge, has a few different bars inside - you'll find old timer bar flies to families to millenialls. We love the Moonshine Bar on the top floor with it's laid back vibe and views over the beach.
