So, uh, why does New York build "really, really big things?" We tend to do that a lot. This is a fast-paced & funny walking essay that explores the answers to that question through the story of the Brooklyn Bridge. And to do so, we have to look the historical stories of immigration, engineering and political machines. With this tour, we use the bridge and it's bloody, weird history to get a deeper understanding of what is not only New York City, but what makes any city a city.

We walk up the Highline to Hudson Bay Yard, view the Vessel and then take the subway to Times Square / Rockefeller Centre Top of 5th Avenue is our next destination. Sights include : NBC Studios, Radio City Music Hall, Museum of Modern Art, St Patrick's Cathedral, Trump Tower, The Plaza & many more! Last stop : Central Park (Gapstow bridge and other landmarks) You will see everything!

After meeting your guide at Castle Clinton on the southern tip of Manhattan you’ll board the ferry to Liberty Island. Enjoy your early Reserve Line Access ticket to avoid the crowds. During the ride to Liberty Island you’ll learn about the history of the famous statue and learn about how perceptions of Lady Liberty have changed over the decades and through generations. Once on the island, your guide will show you the grounds and tell you more about what you will see inside the Pedestal and the new museum. You will have time to examine the collection housed inside the museum - from the original bones of the statue to one of the first flames of her torch. Then make the climb to the top of the pedestal and enjoy unparalleled views of the NYC skyline from her feet. After a short break you’ll hop back on the ferry and cruise over to Ellis Island to hear the stories of the millions of immigrants that passed through there between 1892 and 1954. After reaching Ellis Island your guide will point out significant monuments on the grounds including The Wall of Honor. You will get a preview of the Museum of Immigration and what to expect so you can plan to see the exhibits important to you.

**PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING. THIS IS AN OUTDOOR with LOTS OF WALKING FOOD TOUR** We will be exploring the world via food within a 30 block span of Queens, NYC. This is an off the beaten path, very local experience! Please note that we will be walking approximately two miles throughout the tour. There is limited seating and restroom access throughout the tour, as we will be visiting street food stalls and take-out eateries. If you are not comfortable with this, the tour may not be ideal for you. We will be eating a lot, so come with an appetite! Consider this tour as dinner. As night falls, many carts and trucks come out with some of the most delicious food to be had in NYC. Many are hole in the wall, hidden gems that aren't easily noticed if you were to walk through the neighborhood on your own. These are places that we frequent and where we eat often and want to share them with you! Often, the vendors will change by day, so each tour may be unique. Our journey may take you from Tibet to Mexico and much more in between. Itineraries and spots can be tweaked for dietary restrictions. Come with an open mind, comfortable shoes, empty stomach and we'll take care of the rest! This is our passion and we like our guests to feel like friends.

Fall & Winter in the park bring cooler temps, but still a beautiful time to ride! Important to layer up and cover heads, fingers, and toes! We'll meet at Battery Park, at the southern tip of Manhattan, and make our way to the Statue of Liberty. Designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, this iconic copper statue was built by Gustave Eiffel and was dedicated on October 28, 1886. We'll continue to Ellis Island, opened in 1892 as a federal immigration station before closing in 1954. We'll have a fully escorted visits to the Statue of Liberty with Pedestal Museum, Ellis Island, Wall Street, the Stock Exchange, and the 9/11 Memorial Pools. We will also visit the National September 11 Memorial—it's the principal memorial commemorating the September 11 terrorist attacks of 2001, located at Ground Zero—the former location of the collapsed Twin Towers. Either I will be your guide, or you'll be with another New Yorker who will tell you their 9/11 stories as you visit Ground Zero.

From the grand cast-iron maidens in SoHo to the tenements of the Lower East Side, from the bustling streets of Chinatown to the delicious tasty treats found in Little Italy we will dive into the histories and personalities that make these some of the most important neighborhoods in the world. Along the way we will see murals created for The L.I.S.A. Project by internationally-famous street artists and learn about the process and stories behind each piece. Who knows, we might even get lucky and catch an artist at work... Colder weather and even rain won't stop us! We cover a lot of ground so check your forecast and dress comfortably. :)

You will enter the space with light music playing, & the burning of either incense, frankincense & myrrh resin and/or sage to clean the space. There will be a choice of herbs for your herbal smoking blends, each serving a specific function in the body. We will briefly introduce ourselves & discuss what each person is interested in blending. The group will then break into small groups of 2 or 3. I will start the class teaching the benefits and function of each herb. We will then discuss smoking blend ratios. We can also discuss ratios for blending herbs with cigarettes or cannabis for those who are interested in cutting. In your small group, you will then pick a selection of herbs to make your blend. As you craft, I will talk about the benefits and safety of vaporizing vs smoking, and the combustion temperatures for the herbs we are using. (Vaporizing warms plant material enough to release its beneficial compounds without creating a harmful combustion). In total, you will take home a smoking blend kit, 2 personally rolled herbal cigarettes, & a wealth of newfound information. Smoking blends DO NOT include nicotine or cannabis. We are ONLY using plant material.

First, we'll meet in the historic Castle Clinton- a military installation built for the War of 1812. Then the tour will go to the Statue of Liberty where we have the privilege of going inside, through the pedestal museum, and then all the way up her pedestal to the observation deck, home to some of the most beautiful and certainly fullest view, including Jersey City, Manhattan Skyline, Freedom Tower, Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, just to name a few. The boat then heads to Ellis Island where you can get chills from walking the same steps as 12 million immigrants did nearly a century ago. This part will be with National Park Ranger Guided tours, and movies are offered for free every 30 mins!
